Free hosting for Lutheran churches

Many churches overpay for their websites.

We intend to change that (but only if you’re Lutheran).

LutherHost gives confessional Lutheran congregations and their schools a fast, secure, professionally run website, free of charge. It’s a work of Confident.Faith, so the people keeping your site online share your confession.

An example church website on LutherHost, showing service times, the latest sermon, the week’s events, and the parish school

What you get

Everything a congregation needs online, and nothing it doesn’t.

A proper church website

A modern site that looks right on every phone, with room for sermons, service times, the calendar, and your school.

Email at your own address

[email protected] instead of a free webmail account, so your congregation’s name is on every message.

Optional: $60 per mailbox, per year

Security, handled

SSL certificates, software updates, and malware scanning, all done for you, so nobody has to remember.

Backups every night

If someone deletes the wrong page on Saturday night, it can be put back before the Divine Service.

Fast and dependable

Modern servers that keep your site quick, even when the whole parish looks up the Christmas Eve service times at once.

Help from fellow Lutherans

Your questions go to people who know the difference between Matins and a matinee.

What it costs

Hosting is free. Really.

There’s no setup fee and no monthly fee. Your website, the security and backups, and the help when you need it are all free.

Email at your own address is optional and costs $60 per mailbox, per year. Take as many mailboxes as you need, or none at all.

Your members give their offerings for the preaching of the Gospel. We would rather that money stayed in the ministry than went to a web host.

How it works

From application to Sunday morning in three steps.

I.

Apply

Tell us about your congregation, your confession, and what you need. It takes about five minutes.

II.

We set you up

We read every application ourselves. Once you’re approved, we build your site and any mailboxes you asked for, or help you bring over the site you already have.

III.

Proclaim

Post sermons, service times, and the church calendar. We keep the software current and the backups running.

Who we serve

Yes, we’re picky.

LutherHost exists for confessional Lutheran congregations and the schools they run: churches that subscribe to the Book of Concord because it faithfully sets forth Holy Scripture, not merely insofar as it does.

Why free? Because offerings are given for preaching the Gospel and administering the Sacraments, not for paying web hosts.

The Church is the congregation of saints, in which the Gospel is rightly taught and the Sacraments are rightly administered.

Questions

Fair questions, plain answers.

Is it really free?

Yes, hosting your website is free. There’s no setup fee and no monthly fee. Your members give their offerings for the ministry of Word and Sacrament, and we would rather it stayed there than went to a web host.

Email at your own address is optional and costs $60 per mailbox, per year.

Who can use LutherHost?

Confessional Lutheran congregations and the schools affiliated with them. If your congregation subscribes to the Book of Concord without reservation, please apply. Not sure whether you qualify? Ask us.

Can you move our existing website?

Yes. Tell us where your site lives today when you apply, and we’ll help you bring it over, along with your domain name.

Can we use our own domain name?

Yes. Your website uses your congregation’s own domain, such as yourchurch.org, and so does your email if you add it.

How do we get help?

Post on the LutherHost forum or use our contact form. Real people answer, and they’re Lutheran too.
